2.5kW OUTPUT/ 4,700kWh ANNUAL YIELD

Proven 7 Wind Turbine

WES 18 Wind Turbine
Horizon Renewables are an Official Distributor and Certified Installer of WES Wind Turbines

Ideal for rural homes and remote locations, the Proven 7 is a 2.5kW downwind turbine that will produce an annual output of 4,700kWh (based on an average of 5m/s wind speed at hub height). With it's patented blade assembly the Proven 7 will start producing electricity at a wind speed of 3.5m/s and continue to produce in the fiercest wind conditions.

Overview

The Proven Energy range of wind turbines has been designed as downwind machines with passive yaw, pitch and coning control producing maximum yield in a wide range of wind speeds.

Output in all conditions

Proven Wind Turbines stand out from other small wind turbines because of its patented blade assembly, which allows the wind turbines to regulate their speed, maximising output. As the wind gets stronger, the blades pitch and cone to reduce their aerodynamic efficiency. This lets the Proven Energy wind turbine maintain a high output even in the fiercest storms, unlike many turbines which need to be put on brake to protect themselves at high wind speeds.

High efficiency and low maintenance

The Proven Energy range of wind turbines use a direct drive generator and therefore have no gearbox, resulting in higher reliability, reduced noise, lower servicing costs and no reduction in performance in cold weather. Proven wind turbines have been designed to be raised and lowered with a manual or automatic winch, eliminating the need for cranes or heavy plant machinery for annual servicing and allowing the wind turbines to be installed in remote and difficult to access locations.

Five Year Standard Warranty

Proven Energy are confident their turbines will last and to prove it they supply a five year warranty, as standard, for any manufacturing faults or defective parts on all of their turbines. Proven wind turbines have a life expectancy of over 20 years (with annual servicing). There are many Proven 7 turbines still producing clean, reliable electricty over 20 years after installation so you can be sure your turbine will last.

System Options

The Proven 7 wind turbine is available in three system configurations; grid connected, as part of a battery system or as a heating system. You also have a choice of tower heights and monitoring options so you can tailor your installation to suit.

Grid Connect, Battery or Heating

The Proven 7 wind turbine is available as a grid connected system, as part of a battery system or as a heating system.

Grid Connection

In a Grid Connected system, the wind turbine is connected directly into to the building to supply the generated electricity to the property. The wind turbine control system works automonously and seemlessly with the electricity grid, exporting any surplus electricity onto the grid and importing additional electricity if the building requires more energy than the wind turbine is producing. This is the most popular wind turbine system and recommended for most installations.

Battery System

A battery charging system is an ideal solution where there is no grid connection available or having one installed would be extremely expensive. The system can be integrated with a diesel generator or solar panels to charge the batteries when wind speeds are low. Battery systems are expensive and require regular monitoring and maintenance therefore we only recommend them for specific uses. This system can be used on residential properties, remote farms, isolated telecoms masts, water pumping stations and other similar applications.

Heating System

A wind turbine heating system provides hot water and space heating. It does not supply any electrity to your electric circuits or electricity grid. The wind turbine powers electrical heating devices such as an immersion heater in a hot water tank and electric storage heaters. The system can fulfill a significant amount of your heating requirements but may need to be supplemented by an additional heating source during extended periods of little or no wind.

Tower Heights and Options

The Proven 7 comes with an 11m or 6.5m tower. Towers are galvanised steel and are manufactured in two or more sections to be easily transported reducing site access difficulties. The performance of a wind turbine depends heavily on the wind speed at the height of the blades therefore a taller tower will experience higher wind speeds and produce more electricity year on year.

Watch your earnings grow

With a selection of monitoring and display options available you can choose how you want to view the output from your wind turbine. We supply, install and configure a range of monitoring systems and displays for your wind turbine, from portable wireless monitors for small properties to large public displays for larger buildings such as schools, community centres and businesses.

Costs, Finance & Payback

We only provide tailored quotes.

Each wind turbine installation is different and the final cost of having one installed on your property will depend on your preferred system type, your choice of tower height, the distance from the turbine to your property and access to your site, to name a few.

We supply tailored quotations to our customers rather than show an example of our lowest cost installation. Get in contact with us and we will assess your property for average wind speeds and potential turbine sites, we will advise you on the most suitable and economical wind turbine system for your property and location, and we will also calculate your return on investment, so you can be confident your choosen wind turbine will continue to meet your expectations.

It's payback time!

Investing in a wind turbine for your property will guarantee you an income for 20 years or more through the government incentives and other funding schemes available in your area. You will also benefit from reduced electricity bills and add value to your property.

If you live in England, Wales or Scotland you can benefit from the Feed In Tariff (FIT). If you live in Northern Ireland you are entitled to a Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) for every 1000kWh of electricity you generate. Both incentive schemes have different payment structures which will influence the size of system that is the most economical for you. Visit our FIT / ROC page for more information.

You will also save on your electric bills by reducing your consumption of increasingly expensive grid electricity. Better yet, your electricity provider will credit you for exporting any excess electricity onto the grid. The amount you receive depends on your provider. Visit How Wind Turbines Work for more details on how a wind turbine will function in your property and with your electricity provider.

The two tables below illustrate the typical payback period for a Proven 35 wind turbine on a site with an average wind speed of 5.5m/s. For more details go visit our FIT / ROC page.
